Thanks for your interest in serving on the Worship and Production Team at Life Church!
The Process
-
1. Fill Out An Interest Form
Please take a few moments to fill out the interest form. Once your interest form has been submitted, we will be in touch to schedule a time to meet and audition.
-
2. Meeting & Audition
We take the responsibility of leading and serving the people of God through sung worship seriously. Whenever someone stands on a platform, they echo the words of the Apostle Paul: “Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1).”
While skill and ability are important and essential to serve on any worship and production team, who we are and who we are becoming is even more critical.
The goal of this step is to have a clearer understanding of who you are, your skill, experience, heart, and how you might build up the Body of Christ (Ephesians 4:12).
-
3. Sitting In On Rehearsals
When it comes to serving, we move slowly. We believe this honors the Lord, is loving to our congregation, and helpful to you and our team. Thursday evening is when we invite new potential team members to sit in on rehearsals.
Sitting in on rehearsals happens in two phases: Observation, and Participation.
In the first phase, we want you to observe our team, the culture, the rhythms, expectations and requirements, and begin to familiarize yourself with our technology.
In the second phase, we want you to participate in rehearsal. For vocalists, this means singing on mic; for musicians, playing with the band; for production volunteers, sitting behind the sound desk or computer being shadowed by a more experienced volunteer.
-
4. Scheduling
Throughout this process, we will have conversations to gauge your continued interest, answer questions, and provide feedback before you are scheduled to serve on a Sunday.
The new team member ‘onboarding’ timeline is not rigid. Everyone’s time, experience, and skill varies, so the hope is that this process allows for flexibility, growth, and adequate preparation. When team leaders feel a new member is ready, we will look at the upcoming weeks to schedule someone to serve.
Auditions
Auditions can seem intimidating. Hopefully, some clarity around expectations, options for songs, and access to lyrics, chords, backing tracks, and YouTube links will help in this process. Choose from the drop-down links below ahead of your audition to access everything you will need.

At Life Church, we typically utilize small vocal teams - between three to four vocalists. With this in mind, the ability to sing a harmony by ear, and blend well with a rotating team is incredibly helpful. When you come in for an audition, please choose from two of the songs listed below, we want to hear you sing a melody and a harmony.

Many of the songs we lead at Life Church are driven by acoustic guitar. A steady rhythm, with an awareness of dynamics, is what we are hoping to hear in a guitar audition. We do not currently have any electric guitar players on our team, but we would be open to adding an electric player who can accurately replicate specific electric parts from recordings and tastefully enhance and blend textures and ambiance to the songs we lead.
-
When auditioning for piano and keys, we would like to hear specific lead lines and parts for those songs that are piano-led, and we would like to hear the choices you would make in filling the song with more typical keys parts (synths, pads, strings, etc). Please choose from two of the songs below for your audition.
At Life Church, we use a Nord Piano 5 88-key Stage Piano, Sunday Keys, and we also have a Nord Electro 5D.

Keeping a consistent rhythm that is in lock-step with the drums is essential for serving on bass. In an audition, we are hoping to hear an awareness of the rhythmic pulse of a song, and the ability to know where to flourish and where to lay back. For your audition, please choose two of the songs below to play.
Life Church uses an HX Stomp 2 for our bass setup.

A consistent rhythm and an awareness of dynamics are what we are listening for when it comes to drum auditions. From the list below, please choose two songs for your audition.
Life Churches uses a Roland V Drum kit, with a Pearl Mimic Brain, and Field Cymbals.

Sound
Being a skilled sound engineer is equally as musical as it is technical. Our desire is to create a rotating team of skilled sound engineers who are able to work together to create a consistent sound from week-to-week regardless of who is on the platform or who is in the booth.
If you have run sound previously, great! We would love to have you. If you are interested in potentially learning more, great! We would love to train you.
Life Church uses the Behringer WING.

Lyrics
Words matter. Whether it is the Word preached, sung, or prayed, we desire for the lyrics, and media on our screens to draw our attention to the person and work of Christ that we celebrate in the corporate gathering.
If you are detail-oriented, reasonably tech-sufficient, and can stay attentive throughout a service, running lyrics and media might be a great place to serve!
Have you served in this capacity before? Great- would love to have you. If not, we’ll train you!
We use ProPresenter 7 to operate our lyrics, video, sermon media, and lighting cues. Lightkey is the master software used to control our lighting. We run Mac computers for all of our technology.

Photo & Video
Photography and videography help us remember how God is working in the life of our church. Whether it is celebrating baptisms, our weekly gatherings, or special events, photos and videos serve as Ebenezers of God’s kindness.
Are you a photographer or videographer? We’d love to have you!
Are you interested in growing as a photographer or videographer who could use your skills to serve God’s people? We have several talented photographers and videographers at our church you could shadow to learn how to utilize this skill at Life Church.
We offer several Lightroom Presets to help our photographers maintain visual consistency. Life Church owns a Cannon EOS R100 for photography and video work.
