Lamentations - Part 7

John 20:1-18

LIFE GROUP DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  • What is something you have lost (big or small) that really bothered you? And something that, surprisingly, didn’t really bother you?

  • Why do you think the difference was so noticeable?

READ JOHN 20:1-18

  1. The sermon said, “What you grieve reveals what you treasure.” What does your reaction to loss (past or present) reveal about what you value most? Are there any “good things” in your life that may have become “ultimate things”?

  2. Where do you see resistance—either in yourself or in others—to believing what is true about Jesus? How does it change your perspective to see that faith begins with God’s initiative, not our effort?

  3. The sermon described how we can seek or reject a distorted version of Jesus. Which version of Jesus are you most tempted to believe in: (a) An example of love, kindness, etc.? (b) A moral teacher? (c) Someone who stays out of your life until you need him?

  4. Mary’s turning point came when Jesus called her by name. What do you think it looks like, practically, to “hear” Jesus calling you today? What would it look like this week to respond to Jesus more fully and more personally?
