Ephesians - Week 1

Ephesians 1:1-2

LIFE GROUP DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  • What’s a place you have visited that looked completely different depending on your perspective (ground level vs. high up, close vs. far away)? Which view did you prefer—and why?

READ EPHESIANS 1:1-2

  1. The apostle Paul’s life demonstrates dramatic transformation through the gospel. In what ways have you experienced real change since coming to know Christ? (If you’ve followed Jesus for a long time, in what ways have you experienced such change in recent years?) Where are you still longing to see transformation in your life?

  2. When you think about your relationship with God, what tends to define your self-perception most? (In your mind and heart, what—other than Jesus—contributes most to your “position” before God?)

  3. Is there anything in your past or present that makes it hard for you to believe that God fully accepts you? What would it look like to actually live as if “there is now no condemnation for you” (Rom 8:1)?

  4. Ephesians teaches us that we cannot become who God created us to be on our own. In what ways do you practically depend on other believers right now? Where might you be trying to grow spiritually in isolation?

  5. What is one specific way you can begin to live this week more in light of your identity as a “saint” rather than a “sinner trying to measure up”?
